"The Ocean Granny Square Afghan is made by crocheting solid granny squares in 3 different shades of blue and white. The following appliques are made: octopus, jelly fish, puffer fish, star fish, shark, dolphin, sea turtle, sea horse, sting ray, coral, tropical fish, clown fish, sea shell, whale, and crab. The appliques are sewn onto the surface of half of the granny squares and arranged in a checkered pattern. The afghan measures 30" x 36" making a baby sized blanket. However, the afghan may be made larger by making more squares."
Crochet HookJ/10 or 6 mm hook
Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

What an easy afghan pattern. This is simply making thirty squares and applying an applique. This particular afghan is ocean themed but as we all know, granny square projects can easily become something else with a few modifications. With the hot summer months soon upon us, I love this ocean theme.

You can easily make this ocean granny square afghan your own by applying just the Creature Appliques you like or mix and match them. The designer has provided fifteen applique patterns and the afghan calls for thirty squares. Imagine the possibilities with assembly.
