Too cute! What a clever idea. I would have never thought to make a teddy bear in this fashion. This is truley baby's first teddy bear. If you make the squares just a little smaller or larger it could go as a smaller bear or a blanket. Cute!

I bet this would be a unique gift at the baby shower. Depending of the color yarn used, it could be for a boy or a girl. If you are unsure of the baby's gender select a gender neutral color. I just love this. What a great idea.

This pattern looks so cute, I can't wait to try it. From what I can see by reading the pattern it becomes a thick little blanket that resembles a Teddy Bear. What a great idea. Judging from the other comments, it definitely falls into the intermediate level, as it appears to be a little unclear when it comes to the assembly of the pieces. I don't anticipate any problems.

It is not gauge specific, so just be sure the two yarns you use are the same gauge to each other, but otherwise, it doesn't matter. Obviously the higher the gauge the larger it will be. As for the outer trim, I just sewed all the pieces together as shown in the picture then sc around the entire thing in the main color :) Hope this helps someone. I personally think it came out adorable!

Pleasing color combination, but really, now, that doesn't even look like a teddy bear.
