I don't know why teddy bears became such popular items for kids but I am glad that I can find do many wonderful patterns of them. I always made a teddy like this for each of my grand kids. Mine was always the first one they received. And two still have theirs. She took it to college with her. Lol

Every child should have a teddy bear. If you enjoy crochet, this simple pattern would be great for making bears to donate for sale in thrift shops. Or the Buttercup Bear would make a wonderful trauma teddy for local hospitals, or for the police and the ambulance drivers who encounter traumatised children at the scene of accidents or domestic violence.
