I am making this shawl, and I am curious how to get the edging correct when I go around the bottom tip. Any help is appreciated.

I like this pattern. However, rather than using two rows of single crochet between each row of fans in the body of the shawl I have substituted one row of double crochet. Doing this is faster, gives the same row height and also avoids the alternate striped appearance of right side/wrong side. Bumoso

iI really like that "small fans lace crochet" shawl....but have some questions re the pattern. The 1st instruction "chain 5"...and then next row..."7 tr" in 1st chain...puzzles me....Is that initial "chain 5" a ROW of chains, or is it to be "joined" into a beginning circle? and the following "7 tr" in the absolute "1st chain"stitch, or in the circle ( if a circle is to be made)? I would love to try this pattern, but don't know if I could even START with the instructions as given! Help, please!
