Though the two stitches are somewhat similar in appearance and construction, they are very different from each other. The puff stitch is a cluster stitch, but the resulting stitch doesn't rise up off of the pattern like for a bobble stitch. How to Crochet a Puff Stitch
Crochet puff stitch: [Yo, insert the hook into the next stitch. Yo and draw up the yarn. ] x 4 times. Yarn over and pull through all loops on your hook.

Row 1: Sc in the second chain from hook and in each across (27 sts).

Row 2: Turn, ch 3 (first dc), ch 2, * puff st, ch 2, sk 2, repeat from * across until 3 sts remain, ch 2, sk 2, dc in last st.
