This long sleeve shrug looks very vintage. I don't know if it is due to the crochet stitches used or if it's the color of the yarn. Maybe both! Seriously, it is difficult to find an apparel item like this one at the mall. Usually you'd have to find it in a pricey catalog! Once you understand the basic workings of a shrug and how it is made, you can really move forward and make lots of other shrugs VERY easily. I have finally learned it myself!

I crocheted this for my Mum and gave it to her in April 2016 when I went to my sister's wedding. My Mum was looking for a shawl or shrug to cover herself with since my sister's wedding was at 5pm at night. I used an E/4 crochet hook and Deborah Norville Serenity Sock Weight Premier Yarn in the colors Charcoal (grey) and Burgundy. This came out lacy and soft. I madea hybrid shrug of knit with crochet lacey sleeves for myself to wear. The body of the shrug was knit in Patons Silk Bamboo Yarn in Sapphire (blue) and the sleeves were crocheted in the lacy love shrug pattern in Patons Silk Bamboo Yarn in Orchid (purple). Both shrugs were beautiful, Mum loves hers and I love mine.
