This is an unusual blanket and you won't see it duplicated. However I doubt I would make it. The square would be a good thing to learn because of the different stitch patterns. However I dislike doing treble crochet and this pattern goes further than that. I do like the fact that you join as you go. I did find the pattern a bit confusing but I doubt I could explain it better. Thank you for posting the pattern. It is unique.

Love this! Colorful illusiona HAPPY little blankie . Im going to make this darling afghan for my coworkers new baby. I like to make mine crib size and generally have to enlarge patterns. I like the join as you go method of joining squares to minimize yarn ends for weaving in.

This is a beautiful baby afghan. I love both the stitches and the colors. Plus if you follow these colors, you can give it to a boy or girl as a baby showers gift. That's always a plus if you want go get stArted before you are sure of the baby's sex.

There are actually two separate links that I needed to access the complete pattern for this baby blanket. The link provided here should have been the one for the actual square you need to make for this blanket. It can be found at http//stitch11.com/optical-illusion-square/ . You need to make the desired amount of squares and then go back to the link you provided which is how to join the squares I made.

This is a wonderful blanket for baby, especially for Tummy Time! Infant eyes adjust and sharpen focus as they progress into babyhood, so a variety of colors and patterns help them along. This simple granny has the advantage of texture, too. Available as a free .pdf download or print off, this would make a nice Take Along project. I love the unique joins between the squares, too.
