Oversized Crochet Shawl
You'll feel cozy and safe every time you wear this Oversized Crochet Shawl. This large crochet shawl measures approximately 80 inches wide by 40 inches deep including the border. A basic fringe works well for a border, but feel free to crochet any border of your choice (or none at all). Shawls are perfect to wear in the fall, but this larger-than-life shawl would also be great at keeping you warm during the winter, too. The box stitch is used to work up this crochet pattern.
Crochet HookI/9 or 5.5 mm hook
Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

This shawl looks great, but I agree it does not appear to be oversized. The stitch is amazing, and I would love to make this shawl, for myself and as a gift! Depending on the kind of yarn you choose, it could be very comfortable. There are also so many colors available, you could make one to go with every outfit.

I thought oversized here is really huge and sizes bigger than usual. But I'm disappointed with the label. For me this is not even the normal size. It seems too small.

This is a good basic shawl pattern. The designer even suggested one border and a link to it but you can add any border you want. It should work up fast. One of the ladies in our crocheting groups makes oversized shawls and just layers them when she goes outside. We even named the big shawls after her. It does look so attractive so now we are copying her and making our own oversized shawls. This pattern will be perfect. Thank you.

Wow this Oversized Crochet Shawl is easy to make and beautiful with the pineapple border. There are a few links to help you and the size is great to wrap up and stay warm. A well written pattern and so easy to whip up. Thank you for sharing this free crochet shawl pattern.

Do you ever need to run out for a few minutes and really not need to get all bogged down with a heavy coat? Well this is the next best thing. When I run to the market or go anywhere I know I will be indoors in a few I really dislike donning a heavy coat. This is what I need to keep the chill at bay.

The bigger the better I always say. This is an easy pattern and I love the edge that the designer applied. I would say this shawl would work with or without an edging because of the size. This will have to go on the list of my "next" projects.

This is the best shawl pattern ever! Generously sized, easy to make, and nice and warm. Also, great at the beach. I've never gotten so many compliments as for this shawl.

For me over sized is the best thing to wear in winter. Over sized things (like sweaters, for example) can be so cuddly and warm and I have to say that this shawl is definitely going to become one of my favorite winter things to keep me warm. Even the color is great for me so I am really fired up to begin crocheting!

I love the versatility of this oversized crochet shawl. On her pattern page she shows us several different versions that she worked up using many different types of yarn. Each one of them looks appropriate in their own way. She is showing us to not be afraid to use our own creativity here!

Lovely oversized shawl pattern! I find it amazing that people are so talented to be able to combine different borders onto different shawls. It is such a blessing that you ladies are willing to help us novices when it comes to questions and such! You are all soooo generous too!

I love to make over-sized shawls as gifts for loved ones. They are so nice to have handy when it is chilly enough you want something extra, but a sweater is too much. This pattern is very easy to follow. I love that the designer included several variations, as well as notes from people who have made it.

I'm working on my second of these, and it's my new favorite shawl pattern. It works up so quickly but looks like I slaved over it!

When you go to click on find pattern, it takes you to the website. Scroll down...the pattern is there. I just tried it. I also saved it to my bookmarks in the crochet folder.

Beautiful shawl. However, there is a major (to me) error in the chart for the pineapples & shells border. My computer won't allow me to show you. But, if you look at row 2 you will see some stitches have one horizontal line and some have two horizontal lines. That is because both a double crochet (dc) and a treble crochet (tr) are used. The treble crochet is the stitch with two lines. This is the only row that uses the treble. This was omitted from the key for the pattern. For those unfamiliar with symbol crochet. inserting this in the key may be of value to you when stitching shawl.

I have made two of these beautiful shawls so far. I enjoyed working the box stitch pattern. It worked up fairly fast as well. I did one in turquoise and another in sage green. I went directly to www.ideal delusions.com for the pattern instructions. I had trouble with the border but found how to contact Mrs. Turner from her site. She was very friendly and helpful and the prompt reply was so appreciated. Her site has some superb projects. I check it often as she keeps creating so there is always something new to see.

and at the very end of the pattern - before the comment section - is a 'print friendly' button. It's not too bad.

Link to pattern: http://idealdelusions.blogspot.com/2013/07/so-simple-box-stitch-shawl.html Scroll down once the page opens - you'll see the pattern. She offers to email PDF's to anyone who emails her - go to the link and read. Posting here won't accomplish what you want. This site offers links to patterns, it rarely provides the pattern - nothing new, nothing difficult.
