Winter Day Crochet Scarf
Any time the temperature is below 30 degrees, you'll want to bundle up with the Winter Day Crochet Scarf. Worked up in light grey Bernat Wool-Up Bulky yarn, this simple crochet scarf will keep out the cold. The scarf is worked lengthwise with an N crochet hook to create the striped design in the example. Instructions
Ch 124.

1st row: 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook and each ch to end of chain. Turn. 122 hdc.
2nd row: Ch 2 (does not count as hdc). *Work 1 hdc in horizontal bar created between sts of previous row (bar is below loops normally worked). Rep from * to end of row. Turn.
Last row forms pat.
Cont in pat until work from beg measures 6" [15 cm]. Fasten off.

Here is a scarf for the man in your life. If you want to, you can do a stripe pattern with a second color to add pizzazz. A nice crisp white stripe would make this scarf a bit more dressy. I prefer a much longer scarf, and that is easy to do because of the simple pattern. Change up your starting chain and make sure to factor in your multiples.

I have completed my own gray ribbed scarf using half double crochets which looks exactly like this Winter Day Crochet Scarf. It is so versatile, it is easy to match with any color of top. You may do this in any color you like.

This is a nice ribbed scarf with very basic instructions. However, the diagram that goes with this pattern is a bit confusing. First of all, I worked the Half Doubles in Row 1 as instructed, but when it came to Row 2, I couldnt find any bars below the top of the stitch. I worked a row using what I thought was the bar and front loop, and worked another row using Front Loop Only. I couldnt see any difference in the ribbing.
