I guess this is a take on the soda/beer can cozies for a mason jar. I would call it an improvement on a coaster. It's like taking the coaster with you and also kind of a marker for your mason jar.

We are a mason jar loving family. I use them all over the home for storage, from the kitchen for storage to the bathroom. This idea is like a coaster you can carry. If you get real creative, you can make these like those wine glass markers in different colors and use different color ribbons for identification also. Cute.
