Simple Slouch Pom Pom Beanie Hat
"The pom pom is a cute addition to what is otherwise a classic beanie pattern. Feel free to leave off the pom pom for a different look, but between you and I, I think the pom pom gives it a little something extra. But that’s not everything…if you don’t turn up the brim of the hat, it becomes a gorgeous slouchie hat. This makes a great holiday gift and it’s very simple to make, only taking a few hours, so crocheting multiple hats will be a breeze. Make it in a solid color if you’d like to stick to the three color combo used in the pattern."

This hat has an interesting look for one thats worked from the top down. Instead of a series of steady increases, the crown looks like it has been gathered or folded. This is probably because of the designer using such a large hook (size K) instead of the more usual I size. Otherwise the number of stitches per round is similar to most other hats. The only difference is working an extra row that has the same number of stitches as the increase row. Very curious.

The color selection she chose is so beautiful. This classic hat is literally all just single crochets and you are done. It is like two hats in one. Must have the pom pom, especially if you are gifting this to a young girl! Oh, and pick a mint green color with gray for a "cool" look to cure the winter blues!
