This model does not look happy at all but I love the hat that she is modeling. I love the three little tassels on the pattern. The ear flaps are what seal the deal for me. With the really cold winters here knowing that extra layer of protection is ever present really makes me excited about this project.

This hat reminds me so much of the native Peruvian earflap hats, but much, much easier to recreate. Because this is originally a Lion Brand Yarn project, the information and free download can be found here http//www.lionbrand.com/crochet-pattern-modern-gra == nny-hat-1.html The older comments indicated there was a problem accessing the download, but its working fine now.

This is an interesting twist on the typical earflap hat. I love that it is unisex too. Often I find granny square patterns that I like, but they arent really suitable for my boys. This is one that I can make for them and they will like. It will be really fun to make. Using a variety of colours, along with the stitch variations will keep it from getting repetitive. I am looking forward to starting this one!

A lovely MODERN looking granny square hat for the winter! I know Vanna's Choice yarns by Lion Brand are soft work up with an ease that is nice for beginners and experienced crocheters alike. I like these color choices, too. It's such a fun looking hat. But why does the model look mad?
