Chain any number of stitches you want to start, depending on how wide your want your square to be.

Row 1: 1 double crochet in 4th ch from hook and in each chain to end of chain. Turn.

Row 2: Chain 3 (counts as dc). 1 dc in each dc to end of row. Turn. Repeat last row until your work is as long as you want it to be and fasten off.
