"A cute hat that can be accessorized for boys or girls! The brim offers the baby shade on sunny days. The pattern is great for beginners and can be made more elaborate by adding stripes, ribbon and flowers. Sizes are included for Newborn to 6-12 Months. Newborn size is recommended just for preemies and for brand-new babies (ei: going home from the hospital). The newborn size will not fit a healthy baby for very long!"

These little bucket hats are wonderful for summer. Their classic style makes it easy to customize them to suit either boys or girls. The designer lists simple adaptations to change the size of the hat itself, and the entire pattern is available as a free download though Ravelry. Be sure to use cotton yarn for both its absorbance and cooling properties.

We think of hat for the winter for warmth and often forget that hats are crucial for babies during the summer months. If you plan to have your little one out in the sun weather enjoying a day at the beach or just a long stroll thru the park, it is important to wear sunscreen and pop on a hat. This summer hat pattern can easily be for a toddler girl or a boy. For the young man select a more manly color and perhaps add an applique for a sport emblem like a ball. Let us not forget that we all need protection from the brutal summer sun.

The summer sun is brutal on your skin and even more damaging to a new babys delicate skin. Protect them while they are young so they will stay looking young for longer. These hats are super cute and very stylish. Great for a day at the beach of just going for a stroll in the neighborhood.
