Im not sure what constitutes modern when it comes to this beanie. The only deviation from the standard pattern is the inclusion of surface crochet. There are only written instructions for the surface crochet. So if youre new to the stitch, there arent any helpful photos or video tutorials included on the site. Im not even sure that surface crochet would be necessary as the same look can be achieved by changing color for a couple of rows.
