Crochet Button Cowl Pattern - Child Size:
Cowl is 6.5" wide by 26" long.

Row 2: Ch 4 (counts as first dc and ch 2), in the first sc make 1 dc, skip the next dc, make 1 sc in the next dc, *working into the next sc make [1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc], skip the next dc, sc into next dc,* repeat between * to last sc, in last sc make [1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc], turn (17 sts, 8 ch-2 spaces).
Row 3: Ch 1 (does not count as st), sc in first st, skip next dc, *into next sc make [1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc, ch 2, 1 dc], skip next dc, sc into next dc,* repeat between * to end, making the last sc in the 2nd ch of the beginning ch-4 from the previous row, turn (17 sts, 8 ch-2 spaces).
Repeat Row 2 & Row 3, ending with a repeat of Row 3 when work measures approximately 23 inches.
Final Row of Main Color: Ch 1, sc in first st, *(sc in next dc, sc in ch-2 space) 2 times, sc in next dc, sc in next sc,* repeat between * to end, turn (25).
Fasten off Main Color. Turn your work and join Accent Color in the first stitch of the row.
Cowl End #1 - Button Holes
Row 1: Ch 1, sc in first st, *sc2tog, sc in next 10 sts,* repeat between * to end, turn (23).
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn (23).
The next row creates the 3 buttonholes.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first 3 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st, (sc in next 7 sts, ch 1, skip 1 st) 2 times, sc in next 3 sts, turn (23).
Row 4: Ch 1, sc in first 3 sts, sc in ch-1 space, (sc in next 7 sts, sc in ch-1 space) 2 times, sc in next 3 sts, turn (23).

Cowl End # 2
Turn to the opposite end of the work and join Accent Color in the first st of the foundation chain.
Row 1: Ch 1, sc in first st, *sc2tog, sc in next 10 sts,* repeat between * to end, turn (23).
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn (23).
Row 3 to Row 5: Repeat Row 2.
Fasten off Accent Color. Join Main Color in first stitch of the last Accent row worked.
Final Round: Ch 1, *work twisted sc in each stitch across the row, make 3 twisted sc in the corner stitch, work twisted sc across the ends of the Accent Colored rows. When you reach the Main Color rows, switch to regular sc – work 2 sc in the rows that end with DC and 1 sc in the rows that end with SC.
