Why would anyone want to put the seam on the front side of the squares is beyond me. Why use such short ends and leave them when they could be worked in at the same time as joining.? These are very time consuming ways of joining crocheted squares.

He talks too much and whoever taught him how to crochet should have taught him how to hold the hook. He looks like he is working with a crowbar.
