Multiple of 3+2.

Row 1: Work a dc in the 3rd ch from the hook, then work a dc in each ch across.

Row 2: Ch 1 and turn. Dc in same st. *In the next st, work a fpdc, then a dc in the next st, and then a dc in the next st. Repeat from * across until 1 st remains. Work a fpdc in the last st, then a dc in the top chain of the turning chain.

Row 3: Ch 1 and turn. Dc in same st. *Work a dc in the next stitch, then a fpdc in each of the next two sts. Rpt from * to last two sts, then work a dc in each of the last two sts.

Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until scarf is desired length, ending on row 2 for a neat edge.

Isn't this the same waffle stitch look that we see in all those blankets and throws at the big box stores and department stores? How cool is that to be able to learn how to do this on your own!? It is also idea for those dish cloths and wash cloths, in my opinion.

This is one of the more textural stitches, and although it looks complicated, its actually fairly easy. If youre not familiar with this stitch, by all means watch this short video. The little swatch thats included with this post is just the right size for a small scrubber pad. If thats what youd like to do, Id recommend using cotton yarn. Acrylic will also work, and you can make your project a little bigger by adjusting the initial row.
