Aspiring Nana Blanket

"As a new crafter, my compulsion to buy one skein of every color was neither wise nor frugal. Thus, THE STASH. Some of those skeins make up this precious blanket. This pattern works in continuous rows, turning at the end of each row, using 5 different colored skein of yarn. No cutting yarn at the end of each row, but carrying it up the sides of the blanket. I do hope you can use some of those stray skeins with this pattern and have a piece you can be proud of."

This Aspiring Nana Blanket is amazing. I love that she watched a video in another language and came up with this pattern. I'm glad to see that I'm not the only yarn hoarder out there. LOL I like the look of this baby blanket but have to agree that I would rather use variegated yarns to make it. I too don't care for all the extra yarn tails to weave in. I have saved this one and hope to get to it after my long list of must make items. Thank you so much for sharing this free crochet blanket pattern.

Texas Purl, you dont have to be a new crafter to feel like you need every pretty yarn in sight. Some of us never lose that compulsionthats why there are so many stash buster projects floating around the internet. This is a very interesting stitch pattern, and Im so glad you included your original source. I frequently watch crochet videos with the sound off anyway!

Beware that this baby blanket uses several different colors of yarn worked simultaneously, so you will have to be very careful keeping everything straight and as uncluttered as possible. Not recommended for a beginner, that is for sure. The way I see it, this is the reason why God created variegated yarns and self-striping yarns. -)

Good catch! I completely agree with you about the variegated and self striping yarn. The older I get, the less willing I am to sew in on those loose ends.
