I have made one cowl in the past as a gift for my mother-in-law when she visited us a few years ago. This is a very lovely cowl and I wish I were able to wear one, but I live in Florida and it is much too hot here. The colors she used in this cowl are so pretty. I love the little touch of aqua and the fringe gives it the perfect final touch.

She uses the "K" hook for her mesh cowl with fringe. For a worsted weight cowl this is the size hook that I find myself reaching for time and time again. It is usually recommended you use an "H" hook, but you need more drape and softness on a cowl. Perhaps a sweater is more suited to a smaller hook. So- USE the BIGGER hook! You will love the way it turns out.
