Ive worked up these pretty little stars more times than I can remember, and they are by far my favorite. I love how the Puff stitches in the center form their own tiny star. I think Ive used just about every yarn out there including the special Holiday yarn in both the Red and Green variegated as well as the White with Gold threads. Dont limit yourself to just holiday colors. These are just as festive in primary colors.

Call me crazy, but these are so cute and easy to make that they have a multitude of uses besides an ornament for your tree! Make several and string them together with your grosgrain ribbon to create a garland, crochet a simple stitch solid color afghan and then use them as star motifs that you sew directly onto the afghan (so pretty!), make them as is and tie them on gifts like a mug with hot cocoa mix. Any medium weight worsted weight will work here. I would block them for shape, as directed. It is worth the little bit of extra effort and time.
