This is so cute and I absolutely love how the roof is worked to look just like it has cookies embedded in the frosting. This was a three part pattern since it was released as a CAL this past July. The designer uses cardboard for the basic structure, but if you want it to last, you might consider something like fiberboard. And I am totally stealing her blocking board!

During the winter once the kids were out for winter break our first family project was to construct a ginger bread house. When we first made them each child got there own box and constructed the house as they wanted to. As they got older it was there choice to make one together as they fell away with the excitement. I think they would participate just to make me happy. Needless to say, they have now flown the nest and I would give anything to have a family night like that again.

Oh my gosh, is this ever so COOL! I am surprised to learn that the Lion Brand Jeans yarn is being used for this gingerbread house. If you have not worked with this yarn yet, please get to the store and buy some! You will love it. I do! This gingerbread house requires a sturdy shipping box that you cut into pieces to make the house. Finished height is a nice 12 inches tall!

What an adorable project. I love it. Every year my grand daughter helps me to make a ginger bread house for Christmas. She loves it. This year we can have this next to it. And she won't be sad when we eat the other one. We will still have this one. Thank you.

This is a very realistic gingerbread design made by crochet. I am surprised that the item has a cardboard foundation. I was thinking it was stuffed with fiberfill. Polyfill would be more expensive I guess. I can not wait to make this. I missed the CAL but I still want to have one of these.
