This is a fun project and so versatile, too! You could work the blocks all in one color or mixed colors. Tamara at Moogly Blog has patterns for the best letters and numbers Ive seen. For very small children, it would be fun to put an animal face on each side instead. Dont forget about making the classic die with black dots, too. If you explore this designers page, there are all sorts of cute ideas.

This is a great idea. When you have four grand kids under the age of 6 and you babysit them frequently, you need two or three things. Patience, something to keep them busy and something Unbreakable. It looks like you have supplied the last two ingredients so I just need the first one.
