Granny Square Crochet Hat
This adorable Granny Square Crochet Hat is the perfect summer hat for an infant. This is simply a granny square crochet pattern that has been turned into a hat. Worked up In pastels, the funky ruffled rim on this baby hat crochet pattern really makes the piece unique. It also makes a great shade from the bright rays of the sun. This would be a fantastic pattern to work up before that summer sun starts to shine.

This hat skips the magic circle and crown base, and literally begins with a genuine granny square, not a round. The designer gives precise directions and includes several photos of the process. She even includes an overhead shot where you can clearly see the granny. Just as she promises, it does eventually turn into a hat. Since the magic happens during Round 5, you could theoretically swap a different beginning granny for the first 4 rounds, and continue from there.
