First off, how are you supposed to do this in parts? No where does it explain how to start a part by itself. And secondly, the heel part makes no sense to me and I've made unicorns and Pokemon! This is not a beginner pattern. Intermediate, maybe. But not beginner.

Hi Selestrah, I'm sorry to hear that you have having trouble with this pattern. The stocking is worked up in four sections: leg, heel, foot, and toe. You will begin the pattern with the leg section, which starts with chaining 31, 43, or 47 stitches, depending on the size you are making. When you move on to the heel section, you will skip the first 23, 32, or 35 sc stitches made in the leg portion, then join your contrasting color and begin sc stitches there. I hope this helps explain how to make this pattern, and I have updated the formatting to hopefully make the pattern easier to follow. Please let me know if you're still having trouble, and I will try to help. - Laura, editor of AllFreeCrochet

I also like how you make these. You can do one part at a time which means you can take it along and work on it anywhere. I love that kind of project. Sometimes I pick the grand kids up at school and have to wait. This would be a great take along.

I must be highly ignorant, I can't figure out these instructions. It says start with main color, but they all show the CC at each end.

Domenica See the comment from Princess6860504. Evidently you sew the toe and the top on after you have sewn the striped part.

im in the process of asking the longest version. from leg to heel instructions say work the strike pattern until 11from the beginning. for the life of me Im not understanding. I see from the photo there are 4 stripes of the CC and then one or two of the MC before starting the heel. Am I right. just not sure what 11 from the beginning means. can someone explain. Believe it or it Im not a beginner

This project is just about as easy as you can get. I appreciate that the pattern is available in three different sizes, so the crafter can make a variety of stockings to match members of the family. These would look so cute hanging from a mantle place or even as a garland on a banister. I like the clean symmetry, too.

I used to knit Christmas stockings until I found this crochet pattern. The stocking are lovely and work up very quickly. I have made plain and striped varieties and am very pleased with the result. I drssed up the plain stockings with crocheted appliques of stars and trees. The results are lovely!

I like the fact that this "Waiting for Santa" stocking is worked in four pieces and then sewn together. It makes it more simple to understand. I think of how many colorways you can make this in. You can color match the stockings to your personal decor! Or, just leave them as is with the classic Christmas colors.
