Learn to Double and Half Double Crochet, which is the next step after learning to chain and single crochet. Double crochet is probably my favorite stitch to use, and it gives a different look to your crochet projects. As long as you remember your basic chain and single crochet concepts, you should have no problem figuring out this new crochet stitch. These are just great. For those new to crochet let me add that you don't have to be perficient in all the fancy stitches in order to make a fancy item. I recently made a purse using just half double stitches but I alternated between front and back loops on rows.use a self shading or ombr type yarn and it's gorgeous. Don't give up if you can't figure out the more complicated stitches. Just do the ones you feel comfortable doing. Like this purse, it's just badics stitches.
