One Skein Market Bag
Yep, it's true: all you need is one skein of yarn to complete this super easy crochet bag pattern. The One Skein Market Bag is a great pattern to make because it's the perfect size to use for running errands around town. Take it with you this summer to the farmer's market, or use it when you go to the beach.

I agree with Lynn K. This would make a great beach bag, to carry the towels and sunscreen. I love to work with soft cotton yarn, and I would make it in lime green or turquoise. Unfortunately, I don't know how to crochet and don't even know where to begin.

Such a fun bag and great for the beach because the sand will fall straight through the holes, lol! I am going to make mine a bit longer simply because I like bigger bags but I love the color and the mesh pattern. Using cotton yarn means that the bag will be strong and, as the designer says, will not stretch too much.

This is a really simple crochet market bag. If you can crochet a hat, you can do this very easily. The type of yarn you use can change how much the bag will expand when you use it. Every time I make one of these someone wants it. I have given a few way and just make myself a new one. If you want a larger bag, you can also make it out of a bulkier yarn. Bulkier yarn would make it sturdier too. Give it a try. It is a nice tote to have in your car and saves a few plastic bags from being used.

I have one like this made yrs ago without an pattern just 'winged it' I use it for my bottles of medication and hang it up hi so grands can't reach it great if we have to evacuate in a storm one other idea would be to use the ends and such left from other projects we all end up with small balls of red heart or what ever a and at what yarn cost vs the cost of a store sponsored bag the store bag is cheaper as to the gauge and number of rounds that is up to the designer you I like some higher for bottles of soda and some shorter and lined for small items that might fall thru the weave I also have made some smaller ones for glass jars keeps them from breaking some I sew from remnants some I have crocheted depends on planned…Read More use you will want several of these and the nice thing is they are very washable oh and one you should make should hold a or so turkey or ham for the holidays that you will want to wash also make the handles wider for the wt

Unfortunately, this pattern doesn't give any indication of how many rounds....just to do as many as you want until you reach the desired height. This is not helpful at all since this is a *one* skein project. The amount of yarn (grams, ounces, yards) isn't given either. It's a complete guessing game as to where you need to stop in order to make sure you have enough yarn for the handles. Unless, of course, you buy TWO skeins if yarn....which kind of defeats the whole purpose. Not attempting this one right now; there is another market bag pattern in this site that is much more clear and it's working out great so far. I'm halfway through:)

Why not just make the handles first, then use the rest of the yarn to make the bag.

Sure, you could do the handles first, but then you're bag might not be the size you want it to be. When I'm using a pattern to make something, I really appreciate having all the pertinent info. Nothing is more frustrating than having a project not work out because of lack of information and/or yarn.
