The Olivine Ruana

"As you skip between neatly raked piles of golden leaves, envelope yourself in the snuggly warmth of The Olivine Ruana, an over-sized layering piece that comfortably drapes over any ensemble. From the dramatic style to the detailed forest-like design, this poncho will conjure up memories of wilderness getaways to a cozy log cabin nestled in amongst the trees. Tassels add a finishing touch of modern elegance to this already trendy look, making it a versatile piece to pair with boots and jeans, or draped as a blanket around your shoulders as you snuggle around the bonfire on a crisp autumn evening."

I love ruanas, and this one is gorgeous. I love how the variation of spike stitches gives it unique detailing. I am not a fan of tassels, so I would probably omit them on mine, but they look good. This would look really nice if the spikes were made in more than one colour too.

This is ridiculously gorgeous! I love wearing ponchos like this . They just scream fall! The color and tassels make this even more perfect.

When I first read the title, I was not sure if Olivine Ruana was someones name or what it meant. After reading the designers blog I am still not for sure but it sounds like it is an over-sized layering piece that comfortably drapes over any ensemble. I guess this would make it another name for a wrap or shawl?

You'll probably need maybe 5 skeins of this bulky yarn to make this ruana, from my calculation. I tell you, do not be scared off by the special stitches used. It creates a wonderful effect it is true, but you may not know just how fun and EASY the spike stitch is! She's gone and used three different sizes of spikes in a row. Those color changes make a real statement with the spike stitches!
