Thick and Bumpy Potholder
"This Thick and Bumpy Potholder is bumpy with puff stitches on one side, and ribbed on the other. It is super thick and has a really nice texture. The best part - you only need 1 ball of yarn to make the whole thing!"

I'd love to make this with a standard yarn like Red Heart or Bernat, do you think I would have to adjust the stitches for that type of yarn? I'm looking for to giving it a try and saved this pattern. I love the chunky look!

jobers77, this is a fantastic question! Since the pattern suggests a cotton yarn like sugar and cream, it assumes that the gauge will be tight enough to keep you from getting burned. I myself am not a huge cotton yarn fan, but I do use it from time to time. However I do not think that it's totally necessary for this project! Red Heart is my absolute favorite brand and I think that I'm going to use it for my bobble potholders too. My suggestion/plan of attack is going to be to hold two strands of yarn together and use a 6mm/J hook. This will cause the stitch to be thick and chunky, and ALSO tight enough so that the heat won't be able to seep through and burn. I hope this tip helps, and when you're finished I'd love to see what your potholder looks like!!
