Halloween Bat Applique
"This Bat applique would be perfect for your handmade Halloween costume, as a home decoration, embellishment for clothing and more! Use different yarns and hook sizes to obtain different sizes for this crochet Bat applique. As an example, I made this Bat applique in two sizes – Small and Large by using different yarns. Finished Size: Small Bat is about 3.5” (9 cm) wide. Large Bat is about 6” (15 cm) wide. Materials: Small Bat: Patons Grace, sport weight #2 yarn, color – black US Size C-2 /2.75 mm crochet hook Large Bat: Worsted #4 weight yarn, color – black US Size H-8 (5 mm) crochet hook Sticky-back eyes – optional"

Holy Bat Signal!!! These really are some of the best bat shapes Ive seen. Those Picots included in Row 4 really make a difference in how this turns out. The only fiddly part is having to sew the heads to the bodies, but this is such a simple task its not that big of a deal. Unless youre planning to make a few hundred bats!

I really like her design for her bat appliques. There are other bat designs out there that feature very rounded and "childlike" wings, if that makes any sense. These bats are more realistic in design more angular. I just had an idea. What if I attached these bats randomly onto an existing scarf of mine, to make a fun Halloween scarf?

That's a great idea. You could put several bats of varying sizes on the ends and it would look like a cloud of bats? What do you call a bunch of bats anyway?
