Adorable coasters. They really do add a touch of summer with the colors used to make these. Would be interesting to see these made in contrasting colors in a set of four.

Being outside more than inside now that summer is upon us, it is still important to have coasters to help protect our investment. These are cute and it should not take long for you to make these to have to use this summer.

Granny Squares are among the first items I have my students work up once theyve mastered chains and simple stitches. Not everyone has the time or patience for a full afghan, so this is a nice substitute. My students insist that if theyre going to spend time working on something, they want it to be useful! And being Granny Squares, theyre great scrap busters, too.

Can you think of just how many color combinations you can come up with the create your own personalized version of these summertime coasters? I think they'd be adorable in a watermelon pink, with green/white/and black accent colors. A great housewarming gift for the couple moving this summer.
