Difficulty: Easy
Size: 10 inches x 16 inches (not including the fringe or the dowel rod)
Gauge: 12 sts and 5 rows = 4 inches in tdc
Notes:
- This pattern is worked best with at least a 10-inch Tunisian crochet hook or a crochet hook with a cord.
- This pattern is worked flat with the right side of the work facing.
- Do not turn your work at the beginning of each row. Each row is worked from right to left (forward pass) and then from left to right (return pass).
- The final row is the only row that needs to turn your work before beginning.
- The chain 1 counts as the first stitch of each row.
- Do not forget to carry the yarn when switching colors throughout the moon rows.
Color Changing and Carrying Tips
Forward Pass:
When you come to the first color change of the first moon row, drop the color you are using and pick up the yellow yarn.
Yarn over the hook with the yellow and hold the dropped yarn horizontally across the back of the work (image 1 below), insert the hook into the next stitch (just like for a Tunisian knit stitch) under the dropped yarn that is being held at the back (image 2 below), yarn over (image 3 below), pull up a loop (image 4 below), yarn over (image 5 below) and pull through the first 2 loops on the hook (image 6 below).
Continue the pattern. Example of the front of the work (image 1 below) and the back of the work (image 2 below).
Return Pass:
During the return pass, make sure to yarn over with the same color as the 2nd loop on hook.
Make the return pass like normal until the 2nd loop on the hook is a different color (image 1 below).
Yarn over with the same color as the 2nd loop on the hook (image 2 below), and pull through the first 2 loops on the hook (image 3 below). Continue across.
When switching back to the first color, make sure to keep the working yarn a little loose, do not pull too tight.

R23: ch 1 and turn your work,
put the working yarn behind the dowel rod,
*insert the hook through the back loop and front loop of the next st,
yo (image 1 below) and pull up a loop (image 2 below),
yo and pull through all the loops on the hook.
Continue from the * across.
Cut the yarn, pull through the last stitch and weave in the end.
Add fringe and trim. My fringe is 7.5" long so I cut my yarn 16" long and then I trimmed it after adding it to my wall hanging.
Block the wall hanging if needed. I blocked mine on blocking mats with pins and steamed it with a steamer and then I let it dry for a couple of days before taking off of the blocking mats.
Attach another piece of yarn to hang the wall hanging. Mine is 16" after attaching it to the wall hanging.
The End!
