Grannys Patriotic Wreath

"This is my new wreath, and I am in love! MATERIAL NOTES: Yarn Alternatives: Caron’s One Pound, Bernat’s Super Value. I did not weigh this project to determine how much yarn was used, but it wasn’t much. On my Basic 12″ Wreath Form Cover, I used 185 yards of worsted weight yarn, just as reference. The wreath form WILL be visible through the holes in the granny squares, so keep that in mind when purchasing your wreath form – I wouldn’t recommend the green one for a patriotic theme. TIME SPENT: I worked my wreath up in about three days, for a total of about just under 7 hours. MEASUREMENTS: 12″ Wreath GAUGE: First square is 3″. ABBREVIATIONS: – HDC – Half Double Crochet – SC – Single Crochet"

I thought I was the only one that created my squares via rounds and colors. This is just an easy peasy design and now that the 4th of July has past, this could be made and put away until next year.

Or change up the colors for an holiday, occasion or theme! I love how versatile granny squares are.

This patriotic wreath is very patriotic indeed. What could be more patriotic than making a wreath with red, white and blue granny squares. They are you know a basic technique in the way of crochet. It was the first thing I ever crocheted. This is a great project.

Thank you!

My sister is a huge fan of all things Americana, so shes going to love this wreath. Because she lives in another state and is an accomplished crafter herself, Im just going to work up the crocheted portion and send that to her. Shes perfectly capable of sewing the work on the wreath form, and she can choose the center decoration herself.

Though I am not a person who decorates with a country or rustic or Americana theme in my house, I can't help but like this patriotic wreath. There is something about the classic granny square that I am really drawn to. True, you can take this design idea and incorporate it for just about any holiday! Adorable this would be in red, green and white for Christmas.

I actually made this wreath into a red, white and green Christmas version with an Elf in the center. Came out really cute, and now I want to make all kinds of versions.
