Rustic Elegance Canning Jar Cozy Set
"There is something about fall decor that makes my heart happy. I don't know if it's the rich earthy hues, or how cozy everything looks in the autumn sunlight, but it fills a special place in me that nothing else can. This past week Fall arrived at my place, and between the just-changing leaves, and the smell of frost in the air, I felt the need to crochet something that would fit the mood. These canning jar cozies combine the rustic farmhouse feel of hemp with the elegance of lace for a unique home decor piece that you can make in an hour or so. These would also make great gifts when giving away home-canned jams, jellies, preserves, or fruit to friends and neighbors."
Notes-This pattern is easy to follow, however since it is made with hemp, I've labeled this as an intermediate pattern. It would be possible to make these using sock yarn, if you do not feel comfortable working with non-traditional materials (hemp) just yet.
-Because hemp is not stretchy, it is very important that you crochet loosely so these will fit over the jars. I tested mine on my jars every few rounds as I went along. You may find it beneficial to do that as well, especially if you have not worked with hemp before. If all else fails, don't be afraid to go up a hook size or more.
-If you find the cord is hurting your hands you may be using too much tension.

I have not made these as of yet, need to find the hemp cord, or I'll use the sock yarn. Either way, looks like I'm going to the yarn shop! I have turned 6 of my canning jars into stray classes and they tend to sweat so these Rustic Elegance Canning Jar Cozy Set will be perfect for them. The pattern is well written and easy to follow and understand. I'm looking forward to making them. Thank you so much for sharing this free crochet cozy pattern.

I think these are simply beautiful. Growing up, my grandmother would can on occasion and I just thought the finished jars were beautiful. On occasion I have taken to the kitchen to make preserves and I love this cozy. It would make the preserves look so much more elegant when I gift them to family and friends.

I have not had the opportunity to work with hemp and this is the perfect opportunity to take up the medium and make something very creative. These canning cozys will allow your items to look that much more attractive whether you keep them on your shelf or give them to family and friends.

Just in time for Christmas! My emergency gift this year is a pint jar of homemade hot cocoa mix and I hadnt even given a thought to how to decorate the jars themselves. I had already decided to pair some of the jars with Candy Cane coasters, but now Ill do some more grown up versions with these lacy designs. I can attach a tag suggesting using the empty jars as votives, and even include a battery operated candle.
