Finished Circumference: About 19 in. (48.5 cm), will stretch to fit a range of sizes.
GAUGE
11 sc = about 4 in. (10 cm).
BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
INSTRUCTIONS
HAT
Ch 26.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across - 25 sc.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, working in back loops only, sc in each sc across.
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures about 19 in. (48.5 cm) from beginning. Fasten off, leaving a long yarn tail. Thread yarn tail through ends of rows along one long edge and pull to gather for top of Hat. Knot securely.
FINISHING
Sew short sides of piece together to make Hat.
Weave in ends.

Everybody knows someone who needs the most basic of hats. This one has me laughing. With all due respect, though! It is funny how it is advertised as the Olympic Blue Hat. You can show your pride during these Olympic winter games... with this lovely blue (the color is called "Olympic Blue", get it?) hat. There is nothing outstanding or special about it. I thought there would be red, white and blue or something like that. Come on, gimme something! -)
