I have heard of the slip stitch crochet before but after reading this pattern I am double guessing myself. I have saved this and will come back to it when I have more time to work it. Is it just me, or does this hat look unfinished? Strange but in a good way. Thank you for sharing this free crochet hat pattern.

I have heard of it, but not with this name working in the back loop only is not really slip stitch crochet, slip stitch crochet may or may not involve working around the post, in both loops or in back loops only. It is quite cumbersome to crochet but the result is worth it! The extra-large hook makes this work up very quickly.

My daughter and I started this very hat pattern this weekend. Working with chunky yarn means that we should be able to finish this quickly!

What's is unique about this Classic Hat is that it has lose end around the head area. Beanies or bonnets usually have this finished end around the head using a particular stitch to give the hat a finished look but this one is different. This is my first time to see this kind of hat. The color used here is rust, which is so beautiful, it's not very common and very appropriate for the Fall season. The pompom is optional. You may or many not include the pompoms in case you wanna make this hat.
