Brave Primrose Messy Bun Hat
"As a woman who wears her hair long, I can totally appreciate the messy bun hat movement! This is a wonderful way to accessories a messy bun or ponytail hairstyle and looking super cute in a hat at the same time! I like making them from the top down, working the first round of stitches around a pony tail holder. This has a ton of stretch, and holds its shape very nicely, too. If you prefer a hat without the hole - that is a simple modification, too! Start with a circular medallion and increase to the number of stitches of the first round of a messy bun hat and continue as instructed. This pattern includes several helpful video tutorials that can be found embedded into the free pattern page or on Kristin Omdahl's YouTube Channel."

I also prefer working Messy Bun hats from the top down. If I work from the brim up, I never seem to be able to get the last rows to look as nice as the top down versions (which have the advantage of starting with the ponytail tie). The stitch pattern is interesting, too. The designer has embedded a nice instructional video, too, to guide the crafter if needed.

I love me a great looking messy bun hat and this is a good one. I too sport very long hair and it's nice to be able to wear a hat with a pony tail. This is a nice hat for the spring due to the airyness of the pattern. Having long hair, I tend to get over heated while wearing hats. Not with this one!! Love it. The pattern is well done and there is a step by step video for the ones who need it. This Brave Primrose Messy Bun Hat starts with a store bought ponytail holder, so I have to stress to buy a good one so it doesn't break while wearing the hat. Looking forward to wearing this beautiful hat. Thank you for sharing this crochet hat pattern.
