Friendly Bat Dishcloth
Give your dishes a little treat with the Friendly Bat Dishcloth. So many crochet dishcloth patterns are a typical square or rectangle, because that's the first shape we think of. However, this friendly bat is actually in the shape of a bat! Use this unique dishcloth to decorate for Halloween while getting your dishes clean at the same time. Crochet HookH/8 or 5 mm hook
Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)
MATERIALS:
- Lily Sugar'n Cream 00002 Black (1 ball)
- Crochet Hook (H/8 or 5 mm)
- Small amounts of pink and white yarn for embroidery of eyes and mouth
- Stitch Diagram
SIZE:
Approx 13 ins [33 cm] wide x 7 ins [18 cm] high in center.
GAUGE:
13 sc and 14 rows = 4 ins [10 cm].
DISHCLOTH
Beg at lower edge of Body, ch 5.
1st row: (RS). 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook. 1 sc in each of next 2 ch. 2 sc in last ch. Turn. 6 sc.
2nd row: Ch 1. 2 sc in first sc. 1 sc in each sc to last sc. 2 sc in last sc. Turn. Rep last row 4 times more. 16 sc. Next row: Ch 1. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn. Rep last row 5 times more.
Next row: Ch 22 (for wing). 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook. *1 sc in each of next 3 ch. Draw up a loop in each of next 3 ch. Yoh and draw through all loops on hook – sc3tog made. 1 sc in each of next 3 ch.* 3 sc in next ch. Rep from * to * once more. 2 sc in next ch. 1 sc in each sc to end of row. Turn.
Next row: Ch 22 (for wing). 2 sc in 2nd ch from hook. *1 sc in each of next 3 ch. Sc3tog over next 3 ch. 1 sc in each of next 3 ch.* 3 sc in next ch. Rep from * to * once more. 2 sc in next ch. 1 sc in each of next 16 sc. 2 sc in next sc. **1 sc in each of next 3 sc. Sc3tog over next 3 sc. 1 sc in each of next 3 sc. 3 sc in next sc.** Rep from ** to ** once more. 2 sc in last sc. Turn.

FINISHING
With Pink yarn, embroider mouth with chain st as shown in picture. With White yarn, embroider eyes with French knots as shown in picture.

No Trick here, just pure treat! Cute Halloween bat shaped dishcloth. I can't see on black, but dark brown works just as well. Be sure and use a cotton yarn. I love patterns that give you stitch counts for each row. Click on the link for a stitch diagram for the embroidery.
