Frankenstein Candy Bowl
"Add a little fun to your Halloween decor with this Frankenstein Candy Bowl! Use this bowl for decoration or for trick or treating and handing out candy to the neighborhood kids. Kids of all ages will enjoy taking candy right from his mouth. I used a 100% cotton yarn for this project. I choose to do so because it's stiffer than acrylics and the colors were perfect. This basket has a very simply construction and works up very quickly."

I worked this up and was so happy about how well it turned out. I was trying to figure out what to use for the bucket, and realized I have a couple of bottomless popcorn containers my son had picked up at the movie theatre. They were too sturdy to just toss, so instead of turning them into planters, I made a couple of these candy bowls instead.

I see now how we get that stiff and structured bottom to this bowl. It is the use of the plastic sheet that you can cut to fit, layered inside two crocheted round base pieces. It is the secret to many a structured bucket bag, hobo bag and tote bag. Now, you COULD make other monsters out of the general pattern. Like a jack o'latern, a vampire- you just need to have the creativity to come up with the proper embellishments, obviously. use your super powers of crochet !

I altered the pattern slightly so I could just use the popcorn bucket for an insert. I'm keeping one and giving the other one to one of my daughters for next year.
