THROW
Pumpkin Square (make 5)
With B, ch 4, join with slip st in first ch.
Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc throughout), 11 dc in ring, join with slip st in top of beginning ch-3—12 dc.
Round 2: Ch 3, *[(2 dc, 1 tr) in next dc, (1 tr, 2 dc) in next dc] (corner), dc in next dc, repeat from * twice, (2 dc, 1 tr) in next dc, (1 tr, 2 dc) in next dc, join with slip st in top of beginning ch-3.
Round 3: Ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, *corner in next 2 tr, dc in next 5 dc, repeat from * twice, corner, dc in next 2 dc, join with slip st in top of beginning ch-3.
Round 4: Ch 3, dc in next 4 dc, *corner in next 2 tr, dc in next 9 dc, repeat from * twice, corner in next 2 tr, dc in next 4 dc, join with slip st in top of beginning ch-3.

Round 2: Join A with sc in any dc on Round 1, *skip next dc, 5 dc in next dc, skip next dc, sc in next dc, repeat from * around, join with slip st in first sc. Fasten off and weave in ends.

This is probably my favorite Halloween throw. Its so simple to work up, and because its a Red Heart Yarns project, theres a free download that can be accessed here http//www.redheart.com/free-patterns/pumpkin-face- == throw The squares are worked first, then the features for the pumpkins and the lettering are added last. A wonderful project using only a few colors of yarn and basic stitches. Easy peasy!

I've seen this pattern floating around the internet. I always thought about trying it out since I am totally obsessed with all things Halloween. It seems like it would be fun to make all the squares. However, making each piece of the faces might take some time. I am sure when it's all said and done, the hard work will reward you with a beautiful afghan to show off.
