Afghan motifs do not only have to be used as afghan squares. When they work up to this size they can easily be used as pillows, table runners or wall hangings. This design is fresh and simple and will not compete with squares that may be a bit more fancy. I like to mix and match with colors and designs and this one is being placed in the rotation.

This 12" garden trellis afghan square is so simplistic but beautiful at the same time. Combined with the other square on the directions page it does work up to complete a beautiful afghan. I just love motifs and i find uses for them all over my home. This one will find its home somewhere after I make it.

A very easy, simple pattern,net is very pretty too. I love granny squares that you can make up one at a time. That ay you can just take a ball of yarn and a hook with uou and crochet on the go. I see this in different colored pastels for a baby afghan.

Although Garden Trellis is not what the designer calls this square, I can see the logic in the substitute name. This is a very pretty alternative to a plain square. It would fit nicely with other cabled squares, or just use several Garden Trellis squares on their own. I would stick to solid colors though as the details of the texture might get lost with ombre.
