1. Mittens are worked from striped cuff upwards. 2. Mittens are worked back and forth in rows then seamed. 3. To change color, work last stitch of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete stitch. Do not fasten off old color. Carry colors not in use across wrong side of piece until next needed.

With A, ch 21. Row 1 (RS): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch across, turn20 sc. Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn; change to B in last sc. Rows 3 and 4: With B, ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn; change to C in last sc of Row 4. Rows 5 and 6: With C, ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn; change to A in last sc of Row 6. Finishing

Using yarn needle, thread tail at top of thumb through stitches of last row and pull gently to gather. With tail, sew sides of thumb together.
