What sets this oversized cowl apart is the choice of yarn. While this is wider than usual for a cowl, it still only uses a Half Double Crochet and no other stitch. Im sure it would look fine with many other different kinds of yarn than just the metallic. Personally I would love to see it in a variegated worsted, or even a heather chunky yarn.

Very high style, this Oversized Speckled Cowl from Red Heart Yarns is! I have yet to step into the realm of the supersized scarves, but it is not for lack of ability or anything like that. I haven't been able to decide which one I want to make! Most of them that I've seen are actual scarves. I like this one because it's a giant cowl! And teal is a color that is complementary on everyone. Bonus- it is done in a repeating double crochet easy pattern.

When I seen this my first thought was "Shinning Stars", then I read the pattern and see the yarn called for is Patina/Copper, So I'm thinking "Copper Fields" fits this beautiful cowl. What ever name you put on this beautiful cowl, I'm making it! This pattern is very well written and is easy to follow. I'm looking forward to making this one. With the length of this cowl, you could twist it and bring it up over your head on cooler nights or days. Thank you so much for sharing this free crochet pattern.
