District 12 Cowl Wrap
Inspired by the hot movie trilogy The Hunger Games, this Katniss Cowl was designed after a scene in the second movie installment, Catching Fire. Channel your inner Katniss when you wear this cozy wrap. The bobble stitch is used to complete this free crochet pattern and creates an armor-like appearance that will keep you protected from the harsh winter weather. Make this easy crochet cowl pattern for yourself, or give it to the die-hard Catching Fire fan in your life.

I know a few very chic fashionistas who could wear this as a regular accessory, but for me, this will always be a cosplay piece. Several of my teen granddaughters are fans of the Hunger Games franchise. A few are also comic con fans, so they might jump at the chance to work up this piece. While I really like the look of this cowl and plan on making it, just an FYI that this cowl looks absolutely nothing like the one in the movie.

I have seen this pattern before, but have never decided to make one for myself before. Until now. However, I am a plus sized gal, and I am wondering how I can make this so that it would fit someone like me. ?? I will have to play with the length of the wrap so that it's enough to wrap all the way around me. As far as the cowl, the size doesn't matter. I like the unique look and I like Katniss!

I will have to look at the movie again, but I don't recall Katniss' being bunchy at the hip (look at the droopy stuff half-hidden by the model's hand and wrist). I think decreasing in the center of every row would give a more fitted, smooth look, which would be much more flattering.

Just finished making this for my daughter. It's lovely and very fashionable. Thanks for sharing the pattern. Also, it's easy to crochet and took me only one day to finish.
