Crochet Lacey Mandala Cowl Neck Warmer
"Create this gorgeous lacey cowl scarf with this easy to follow pattern! The cowl is light weight, warm and naturally curls under around the edges. This is a great piece to wear with any top and under any coat without the extra bulk of a long scarf. Makes a great present for yourself or gift for someone special! Warms your neck without becoming too hot. I can wear mine all day. This project uses Lion Brand Mandala light weight yarn and size I crochet hook."

This elegant neck warmer is just gorgeous. Although the designer calls for using one of the cake type yarns, you could substitute separate, coordinating skeins instead. I was surprised that the lace portion is worked first as a separate piece. Then after joining new yarn at the end of the row, the remainder is worked using regular Double Crochet. The cowl is not seamed but rather wrapped around the neck and using a button, sewn into place. Just beautiful!

I am familiar with the colorway of Lion Brand Mandala yarn that she used with this one. I made two large triangle shawl scarves using it. I love it! I wish there were more of the muted mustard yellow in it and less of the beige color. I think I could make 3-4 cowls using just one cake. What a bargain!

That's good to know. I'm always wondering how many you can get for a standard skein. I tend to get odd sizes of things.
