I like this classic granny square for its simplicity and for being easy to make. It's very simple, even a 9-year old kid can do it. The colors used here, pink, white and sky blue are very pleasing to the eyes. Will make a pretty blanket.

I love how easy it is to make a granny square. They are truly a classic and one of the first things you learn when you start to crochet. These colors are so pretty and the workmanship is so beautiful. I would love to do an afghan for my sofa with these exact colors.

Granny squares are a staple of crocheting and are often the first thing a new crocheter learns to make. If you know how to make them, you can make almost anything with them. This pattern is very detailed and includes several reference pictures. It is great pattern for beginner crocheters.

When I teach a beginner, the first thing I like to show them how to make is the granny square. The things that can be made with the design are endless and it really gives them a sense of accomplishment when they have a finished product, not just rows of chains or swatches.

This easy classic granny square project screams classic country with the colors selected by the designer. This is a perfect beginner project and the crocheter can select from a rainbow of colors and yarns to complete a finished project from a pillow for a full our afghan just depending on how many squares that is made. Great pattern.

There is such beauty in a simple Granny Square. As the designer states, its often the first real bit of crochet we learn to work up. So when one of my siblings signed up for a crochet elective in junior high, it was all hands to the pump in order for him to finish that afghan by the end of term. By the end of that little exercise, even my youngest siblings were experts at the square!

I have a granny square afghan that we were given for a wedding gift. It is over thirty years old and in excellent shape. This is a classic square , the same found in my blanket. I know that using this pattern I will have a series of granny squares that will hold up as well as the gift we received. It's an easy to use pattern.

I learned to crochet when I was about nine years old. The first thing I learned was to perfect my chain. The next thing I learned was a granny square. My Mom advanced and then taught me how to knit a few years later, but I am still making those age old granny squares. This pattern is a classic.

Even seasoned professionals need a refresher course every now and again, don't we? She gives us a nice basic pattern and tutorial including for a "water lily" granny square for a full blanket. Granny squares are so great for de-stressing, too. It's the repetition and how it works up fast.

Such a classic. I think the granny square was the first actual piece that I learned to crochet. Once you master the granny square then you can make almost an unlimited amount of things with them. They are so versatile and so easy to customize for your project. Thanks for sharing this.

I still remember my first granny squares. I was so worried that it wouldn't turn out. And when it did, I was hooked. Yes, that's a play on words. Once you make one you won't stop. You can make gorgeous things with using this pattern and just changing The colors. Try this in black and white and you will really like it. Do it in red, green and white and it's a Christmas throw.
