Cross Stitched Apple Earrings
"I love the look of cross stitched items, so I crocheted my own and cross stitched a fun apple on it. This is perfect for back-to-school, teacher gift, or fall in general. You can change out the apple color and background color to suit your preference – maybe you want it on a black background to simulate a chalkboard, or perhaps you love green apples more than red."

I know the reason for adding the plastic square. My question is, does it add unnecessary weight to the finished product itself?

The plastic canvas is so light, and so are these earrings. You will almost forget you are wearing them, which I love!

These little cross stitched apple earrings are just adorable. I love to cross-stitch and this is an opportunity for me to take a little time to use both of my two favorite past times. Of course I have a lot of cross stitch patterns and I may be able to incorporate a couple of designs to make additional earrings and or necklaces.

Yes, absolutely! I love the look of cross stitching on crocheted fabric. So fun, and different.

Since the project calls for the crafter to replicate Aida fabric, I couldnt figure out why the designer was still calling for a piece. Instead of cross stitching into the Aida itself, its cut away and used as a frame. That seems like a long way to go around the barn to get to the horse. There are plenty of ways to crochet a sturdy frame.

The pattern calls for plastic canvas mesh, which is different from Aida cloth. The mesh created by the crocheting also has larger holes than Aida cloth, which requires less stitching. Since I don't like blocking, I added the frame. If you like to block, feel free to not add the frame (all explained in the tutorial itself).
