This is not quite the Yarn Hog that it first appears because only the front side of the purse is worked using the Crocodile Stitch. The back half (worked as a separate piece) is worked in ordinary Half Double. The designer provides very clear instructions as well as a number of photos detailing the construction of the handle. Theres even a linked tutorial for the cute little wrapped rose.

This is so cute and it's very easy to make. I did one up in an evening. I just added a stripe to mine but the idea is the same. Crochet flowers are excellent to use. You can ship this and nothing will break. It can be rolled up too. Depending on what colors you use, it can be really fancy. Try it in black and then do the flower in a metallic yarn in silver. Or white with little faux pearl beads. It's a great basic pattern.

What a cute little clutch purse. I live in Florida with all the gators. I might be able to pass off this crocodile clutch for an alligator clutch. Looks like it is about the right size that it could be used as a travel makeup bag also. The flower embellishment is cute also, but I am thinking that an antique pin that the ladies wore way back in the day would be much cuter.

I love the look of this purse and the mix of blue and yellow. The flower is also the perfect additional touch. The texture makes it really unique!

I might have missed it, but what are the approximate measurements? I am needing to make a bag for a couple children that will hold their electronic game and ipod so I don't need a big one and think this would be great for it. Trying to decide where I might need to modify to fit the measurements they gave me. Also thinking I could make the rows below the handle a little taller and add a button to help them close it or put a flap through the handle that they could button on something liek the rosset. This is sooooo cute, even if I don't make it work for them, I am wanting to make myself one!

The Crocodile Clutch PUrse is adorable! Last year I made my first Crocodile Scarf and am SO proud of it! It was difficult getting the 'hang' of it, but I really enjoyed making it!
