This is definitely perfect for numerous Christmas projects. This flower takes a little longer than most other flower patterns because it is worked similarly to amigurimi, but the work put in definitely makes it look more like a real poinsettia flower. And I agree that you could change the colors or alter the petal shape some to make it look like a different flower, that way you could use it for other projects year round.

Wow, what a gorgeous poinsettia flower. I see now why it is labeled as an advanced project. The harder the project the more gorgeous the outcome. The designer has this flower listed as donationware on her site meaning she is giving you the pattern for free but if you love it and make it then she would appreciate a monetary donation in order to continue giving free patterns in the future.

Oh my gosh, this is the most amazing poinsettia Ive ever seen! The secret lies in the amigurumi like construction for each of the leaves. And yes, the red parts of a poinsettia are actually leaves, too! The designer has provided excellent instructions and photos for both the leaves and the construction. The pattern is free, but she does ask for a donation for the .pdf download. Check out her other patterns, too!

Christmas may have passed but this is a great pattern that can be used for a variety of flowers. By changing the color of the petals or even adjusting the shape of the petals, multiple styles of flowers can be made. I plan on starting a flower project with the yarns I have on hand. Thank you for this great project.
