The designer uses an interesting technique to achieve the look of this washcloth. By alternating Back Loop Only and Front Loop Only, ordinary Half Doubles form something that looks like the Tunisian Stitch to me. I worked a Foundation Half Double instead of the chain and first row and it still worked fine. Check out the bonus washcloth pattern below the main one, too.
